Ethan Klein Says He Will Drop His Stakes in Podcasts, Teddy Fresh, Teddy Glow

Ethan Klein said on Friday, Oct. 23, 2026, that he is working with his wife, Hila Klein, to pull his money and his ownership out of the businesses tied to the Los Angeles couple: their podcasts, her Teddy Fresh and Teddy Glow brands, and any joint venture he would profit from. The Ethan Klein ownership pledge followed Hila Klein’s public allegation of a months-long affair, and the H3 Podcast crew’s announcement that it was done working with him.

Where it stands: The plan, as of Oct. 23, 2026, exists only as Ethan Klein’s own short description of it. No sale, transfer, price, timeline or court filing has been reported, and no statement from Teddy Fresh or Teddy Glow has been published. The H3 Podcast is on what he called an indefinite hiatus.

The affair account comes from Hila Klein’s Instagram statement. Ethan Klein has not described the relationship in his own words. This article is about the money side of his response: what he offered to give up, and how much of that offer can be checked.

What he wrote, in full

The Hollywood Reporter published the text of Ethan Klein’s follow-up post. The key sentence reads: “I am working with Hila to urgently remove my ownership and financial stakes in any podcasts, [Hila’s businesses] Teddy Fresh, Teddy Glow or any joint venture that I would profit from.”

He added that “All of your support will go directly to Hila and the crew,” and explained his reasoning: “I do this in the hope that people can still support Hila and the Crew without the concern of enriching me.” He closed with praise for the people who make the show: “I know the crew will make an awesome show, they are packed to the brim with the most talented, creative, hilarious and all around great people.”

One detail is easy to miss. The words in square brackets, “Hila’s businesses,” were inserted by The Hollywood Reporter to explain the brand names to readers. They describe the companies; they are not part of what Ethan Klein typed.

The Ethan Klein ownership list, item by item

His post names four categories. Here is each one next to what public reporting actually establishes about it.

What he named What is on the public record
Any podcasts H3 Podcast launched 2016; about 2.5 million YouTube subscribers
Teddy Fresh Apparel brand Hila Klein launched in 2017; she has been profiled as its creator and CEO
Teddy Glow Named in his post; no further detail in the reports reviewed
Any joint venture Not listed individually; none identified publicly

Variety reported that the Kleins launched the show in 2016 and that it currently has 2.5 million subscribers on YouTube. TheWrap put the figure at 2.51 million on Oct. 23. Neither number says anything about who owns the channel, the back catalog or the company behind it, and none of that has been disclosed.

Teddy Fresh grew up next to the show

Teddy Fresh is the best documented of the businesses he named. Eastern Eye describes it as the apparel brand Hila Klein launched in 2017, one the podcast helped promote to its audience. When Tubefilter covered the launch in October 2017, it noted that the line was kept apart from the h3h3 channel’s own merchandise, even though the couple wore Teddy Fresh pieces in their videos.

In a 2023 profile, The Harvard Crimson called Hila Klein “the creator and CEO of Teddy Fresh.” She told the paper the brand began alongside the podcast: “When we launched our podcast, we also decided to launch a clothing line, which I was kind of thinking was going to be my hobby and passion project.”

That history is why his post matters to customers. A shopper who wants to keep buying hoodies but does not want any of the money to reach Ethan Klein is exactly the person he addressed. Whether his plan achieves that depends on details nobody has published yet.

Teddy Glow is the open question

Teddy Glow appears in his post and in The Hollywood Reporter’s bracketed note, and almost nowhere else in the coverage reviewed for this story. We could not find a company statement, an ownership filing or an independent description of the business in the reporting available on Oct. 23. Until the company says something, the name is all that is confirmed.

What “removing a stake” can mean, and what he did not say

In ordinary business terms, an owner can leave a company in several ways: selling a share to a partner, transferring it, having the company buy it back, or giving it up as part of a wider agreement. Each route has different paperwork, tax treatment and timing, and most involve the other owners. His post does not say which route he has in mind.

It also leaves out the things that would let anyone verify it:

  • the percentage he holds in any of the businesses;
  • who would receive his share, and whether any money changes hands;
  • a deadline, beyond the word “urgently”;
  • what happens to the H3 name, the YouTube channel and the show’s back catalog.

IBTimes UK made a similar point about the crew’s statement, observing that the team never spelled out what happens to ownership of the show, its archive or its future. Ethan Klein’s post answers the money question in principle and leaves the mechanics open.

Married owners in California face an extra layer, because the state’s community property rules can shape how a business built during a marriage is treated. Our explainer on how California treats a family business built during a marriage covers the general law. It does not tell anyone what will happen to the Kleins’ companies, and a social media post is not a legal division of anything.

What the crew and Hila Klein have said about money

The crew drew its own line before Ethan Klein posted. The Hollywood Reporter quotes its statement saying the team agreed “we would not continue working with Ethan involved or profiting in any way.” Variety reported the decision was unanimous. His own post, published after that statement, takes up the profit point directly by saying fan support should flow to Hila and the crew.

Hila Klein’s statement did not discuss shares or companies. She described her husband as having been her partner “in marriage, parenting, and business,” and said she is now in survival mode, dealing with separation and co-parenting. None of the reports reviewed for this article quoted her reacting to his ownership post. The couple married in 2012 and share three children, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

What to watch next

Three kinds of news would turn the pledge into something checkable: a statement from Teddy Fresh or Teddy Glow, an announcement from the crew about the show’s name, channel or format, or a court record. Eastern Eye noted that the crew has named no replacement show, no new branding and no end date. When TheWrap checked on Oct. 23, the show’s YouTube channel had 2.51 million subscribers.
