The people behind the cameras at the Los Angeles-based H3 Podcast spoke for themselves late on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, and what they posted may decide more about the show’s future than anything its host has said. The H3 crew statement, published on the program’s official Instagram account hours after Hila Klein publicly accused her husband, Ethan Klein, of an affair, said the team would not keep working with him. It runs only a few short paragraphs. Each sentence does a specific job.
Where it stands: Paused, not ended: Ethan Klein’s word was an indefinite hiatus, and that still described the show as of Oct. 23, 2026. The team has named no successor program, no new title and no final date. He says he wants out of his ownership and financial interests, and his posts say nothing in his own voice about what his wife describes.
The H3 crew statement, sentence by sentence
The Hollywood Reporter and Variety printed the text. Here is how it breaks down.
1. The reaction. “We are all shocked, angry, and heartbroken to learn about Ethan’s ongoing affair.” This is the crew’s own characterization, written in its own voice. It is the team’s account of what it learned; it is not an independent finding, and Ethan Klein has not publicly described events himself.
2. The decision. “As soon as we found out, we all agreed: we would not continue working with Ethan involved or profiting in any way.” Two conditions sit in that sentence. One is about labor (no working with him involved). The other is about money (no profit to him). Variety described the vote as unanimous.
3. The honest gap. “We don’t yet know what that means for the future. There’s a lot to work through, and we wish we had more answers for you.” It is easy to skim past, but it may be the line that matters most. The crew did not claim control of the show, its name or its archive.
4. The loyalty line. “We stand with Hila and will support her every step of the way. We’re disgusted by Ethan’s actions and the hurt he has caused. We all deserved better: Hila, us, and you.” Hila Klein co-hosts the program, so the team was publicly backing one of the show’s two hosts.
5. The sign-off. The closing paragraph tells fans the staff are safe, are “sticking together” and need time. It ends: “We love you, and we miss you already.”
What the team committed to, and what it did not
| Topic | Statement says |
|---|---|
| Working with Ethan Klein | Will not continue |
| Ethan Klein profiting | Will not allow it to continue |
| Support for Hila Klein | Yes, “every step” |
| Who owns the show | Not addressed |
| Back catalog, channel | Not addressed |
| New show or new name | Not announced |
| Return date | None given |
IBTimes UK made the same observation: the statement stopped short of saying what the split meant for ownership, existing episodes or the long-term future. Eastern Eye, also on Oct. 23, said the team had not announced a replacement program, a rebrand or an end date.
How Ethan Klein’s answer lined up with the crew’s terms
The crew posted first. On Friday, Oct. 23, Ethan Klein published a follow-up that, by its wording, addressed the money condition. He said he and Hila Klein were arranging to strip out what he owns and earns from the shows and from her two brands, and wrote, “All of your support will go directly to Hila and the crew.”
He also praised the people who had just walked away from him: “I know the crew will make an awesome show, they are packed to the brim with the most talented, creative, hilarious and all around great people.” Our story on what he said about his ownership stakes covers that post and what remains undisclosed about it.
On the labor side, nothing he posted suggested he intends to return to the microphone. On the money side, no transfer, price or timeline has been published.
Can a crew carry a show without its host?
It has happened in online video, though never in exactly this shape. The nearest well-documented case is the Try Guys in 2022, a comedy group that had left BuzzFeed to form its own production company.

In late September 2022, the group announced that co-founder Ned Fulmer would no longer work with them. “As a result of a thorough internal review, we do not see a path forward together,” the remaining members said, as reported by BuzzFeed News. In a video explaining the decision, Zach Kornfeld described the first step, according to NPR: “We immediately removed Ned from work activities and engaged an HR professional to conduct a thorough review of the facts.”
The three remaining members then used the company’s formal governance. Keith Habersberger said they signed a written consent of the company’s members on Friday, Sept. 16, 2022, removing Fulmer from his management role and his job there, NPR reported. They also said they had moved carefully for legal reasons. Habersberger told Entertainment Tonight: “We didn’t want to leave ourselves open to lawsuits if we were ‘unjustly removing him,’ or what have you.” The remaining three told viewers they were looking ahead to the group’s next era.
Where the comparison breaks down
The two cases differ in ways that matter.
- Who acted. The Try Guys decision came from co-owners using the company’s paperwork. The H3 decision came from the production staff, whose contracts and any ownership interests have not been disclosed.
- Whose name is on the door. The H3 brand is built around the Kleins themselves. Who controls the name, the YouTube channel and the archive has not been made public.
- What is known about the conduct. In 2022 the departing member issued his own public statement about his relationship. In 2026, the account of the relationship comes from Hila Klein, and Ethan Klein has not described it.
- Equity. Even in the Try Guys case, the coverage we found never spelled out what happened to the departing member’s ownership. Nobody should assume H3 will follow any particular route.
What the precedent does show is that a creator company can keep operating after a founding face leaves. Whether the H3 audience would follow its crew to a renamed show, or a continued one, is not something anyone can know yet.
What would change the picture
Three things would move this story forward: a statement from the crew about a name, format or channel; a published agreement on who owns the show; or an announcement from Hila Klein about her role. Until then, the plain status answer is in our explainer on whether the H3 Podcast is cancelled, and the full account of the past two days is in our lead story on the hiatus.
The show the crew is weighing is not a small one. Variety reported that the Kleins launched the program in 2016 and that its YouTube channel has 2.5 million subscribers.
Frequently Asked Questions
What did the H3 crew statement say?
The crew wrote that it was shocked, angry and heartbroken, that it would not keep working on the show with Ethan Klein involved or profiting, that it stands with Hila Klein, and that it does not yet know what the decision means for the show’s future.
Who is in the H3 Podcast crew?
The statement was signed collectively and posted on the show’s official Instagram account. It did not list individual names, and this article does not attempt to.
Is the crew starting a new show without Ethan Klein?
Not as of Oct. 23, 2026. Eastern Eye reported that no replacement program, rebrand or closing date had been announced. Ethan Klein wrote that he believes the crew will make an awesome show, but no project has been announced.
Did the crew say who owns the H3 Podcast?
No. IBTimes UK noted that the statement did not explain what the decision means for ownership, the existing episodes or the long-term future of the show.
Has a creator group continued after removing a member before?
Yes. In 2022 the Try Guys announced that Ned Fulmer was no longer working with the group after an internal review, and the remaining members said they would carry on with the channel. The circumstances and ownership structure of that company were different, so it is a comparison, not a prediction.
